When Chelsea Yates joined the team at New Zealand King Salmon’s Picton office as community sponsorship and events coordinator, she knew she was in for a varied and exciting role.

In just a few short months Chelsea has enjoyed a whirlwind of new experiences as she familiarised herself with the many facets of NZKS operations, from trips to see the salmon farms to hosting events with NZKS partners.

Born in Christchurch, Chelsea studied in Otago, then returned to Marlborough and family to work in marketing in the wine industry before the role came up with NZKS.

“Having built up my marketing experience for a number of years, when the job with NZKS in Picton came up, it was just the right time for me to challenge myself by taking on a role for such a large and reputable company.”

Chelsea says she particularly enjoys helping NZKS give back to the community through sponsorship and other support.“Like so many of us here at NZKS, Marlborough is my home. So having the opportunity to work for a company that supports my community with employment but also by sponsoring many worthy projects, organisations and groups – even local schools – is really satisfying.”

Chelsea says an added bonus to her job is representing NZKS at many local events, including some of Marlborough’s flagship occasions.

Events coming up include the:

Ocean Vine Hop                                              24 November 2018

Picton Maritime Festival                            19 January 2019

Marlborough Wine & Food Festival       9 February 2019

Havelock Mussel & Seafood Festival      16 March 2019

“Events like these, which put Marlborough on the world stage for our fantastic produce, are such a great way to introduce people to our products.”
