From environmental-based initiatives to youth development programmes, we’re involved with a variety of organisations and charities throughout Marlborough, Nelson/Tasman, Golden Bay and Canterbury.

Graeme Dingle Foundation

We are gold sponsors of the Graeme Dingle Foundation’s Kiwi Can programme in Marlborough. Kiwi Can is a brilliant energy-packed programme that is currently run in 9 Primary Schools throughout Marlborough and is aimed at children aged 5-12 years. The programme teaches the children values such as integrity and respect which are important life-skills. We also support the Career Navigator programme which helps students work their way through the endless career opportunities presented to them. They get real world experience in fields they are interested in and an idea of what their future career path may look like.

Marlborough Girls College

We want to see everyone at Marlborough Girls College have equal opportunities for learning. So, once we had learned about the school’s need for extra funding around technology, we came onboard to support the girls whose families couldn’t afford the devices needed in today’s schooling life.

With guidance from Principal Jo Chamberlain, we sponsored 60 Chromebooks in 2017 and 2018 as part of the BYO Device program. Each device is loaned to the girls for the school year and the feedback has been amazing. Our programme also covers support for the netball team, annual prizegiving, education programmes and donations of salmon for cooking classes.

Marlborough Boys College

We have supported the first XV rugby team for a number of years with everything from uniforms and sports gear to contributing to travel costs. The team is nationally recognised as the New Zealand King Salmon MBC 1st XV and is seen on playing fields from Nelson to Timaru.

Mistletoe Charitable Foundation

We are premier sponsors of the foundation, which provides financial assistance for any New Zealand school-aged youth to attend school camp at Misteltoe Bay Eco Village in the Marlborough Sounds. These outdoor education programmes at Mistletoe Bay offer a wealth of benefits for children.

Queen Charlotte College

As leaders in the aquaculture industry in the region, we support the Aquaculture Academy at Queen Charlotte College and have done so for many years. The college has a great set up of tanks with filtration systems, providing hands on learning outside of the classroom. NZKS donated several tanks and we deliver salmon smolt and eggs to the school for the class to grow and nurture.

NMIT

We provide annual scholarships for tertiary study at Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology (NMIT). These students will be looking for a future in the aquaculture, business or culinary sectors. We also donate salmon for the culinary students to use.

Koru Wildlife Centre

The Koru Native Wildlife Centre has a breeding programme for Giant Weta and Yellow Crowned Kakariki right here on our doorstep, with a goal of education and engagement around conservation and restoration in the Marlborough Sounds. NZKS’s support, along with monetary grants from Rata Foundation and the Lottery Grant Board, has made the establishment and ongoing operation of the centre possible.

Kaipupu Point Wildlife Sanctuary

Passionate about helping our local community, we support Picton’s local bird and wildlife sanctuary so they can succeed in their environmental goals – restoring a 40-hectare ‘mainland’ island in the Picton Harbour. The sanctuary offers amazing wildlife viewing, school and group visits and volunterring opportunities.

Queen Charlotte Yacht Club

Boaties are an important part of our community, and the entry to the Sounds represents the heartland of our business. We are a platinum sponsor of Queen Charlotte Yacht Club’s rebuild, and its new main function room will be called the King Salmon Ward Room.

Waikawa Boating Club

We support the Waikawa Boating Club by providing prizes for local competitions in their ‘Winter Series’ and other events they run throughout the year. Many of our aquaculture team depart from the Waikawa Bay jetty each day so we like to give back to this close community we work alongside.

Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter

We are silver sponsors of the Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter, supporting the service provided for the treatment and recovery of people needing urgent medical care and transportation in the Nelson Marlborough region.

Fifeshire Foundation

We have made a commitment to support disadvantaged and underprivileged groups in Nelson/Tasman through the Fifeshire Foundation.

Big Brothers & Big Sisters

We are a cornerstone sponsor of Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Nelson-Tasman. BBBS is a mentoring organisation that creates lasting bonds and provides access to opportunities that every child should have. For 20 years, BBBS has helped children and youth realise their potential, build their futures and strengthen communities.

Nelson Tasman Hospice

The new $11.5 million Nelson Tasman Hospice building was opened by the Prime Minister in April 2019. The hospice provides a variety of free specialist care services for people who have a life-limiting illness. We chose to sponsor the reception area and cafe as it aligns with our brliefs of giving back to our community and our association with food.
