We are taking the precautionary action of recalling Regal Cold Smoked Sliced Salmon Twin Pack 200g and Southern Ocean Salmon Pieces 500g packs.
The batch is labelled M362D and M362N.
We have recently received notification of test results for a single sample within this batch that suggested it contained Listeria monocytogenes. We have conducted testing of a further 60 samples, where Listeria was not detected. This indicates that contamination, if present, is at very low level. However, based on this single abnormal result we are taking the precautionary action of recalling the whole batch.
We apologise to consumers who are impacted by this recall and advise customers who have bought this product to return it to the place of purchase for a refund or phone our customer services on 0800 725 666. This recall does not affect any other products produced by or for The New Zealand King Salmon Company.
It is important to note that there have been no notified cases of illness from eating the salmon. We are taking these precautionary steps to proactively protect our consumers. If consumers are concerned about their health, we recommend they seek medical advice.
The whole company prides itself on implementing responsible manufacturing practices, particularly with regards to Quality and Food Safety and we’ve have had no substantiated reports of illness from our cold smoked product in known history.
