Paul Munro

BCom, FCA, CFInstD

Paul brings over 25 years of financial and commercial experience across a broad cross section of companies and industries including a 24 year career as a Corporate Finance Partner at Deloitte and six years as CEO of a publicly owned investment company which managed a portfolio of commercial infrastructure investments. Paul has significant experience in capital structuring and funding of infrastructure projects, investment management, strategy development and performance oversight, mergers and acquisitions, NZX listed market transactions including IPOs and debt capital market bond issues.
Paul also has over 10 years’ experience as an Independent Director with his Board experience spanning a range of entities and sectors. Paul is a current or former Director of various commercial entities including Electricity Ashburton, Orion New Zealand, Toitu Envirocare, Central Plains Water, and Tait Communications.
Paul is a Chartered Accountant Fellow (FCA) of Chartered Accountants Australia New Zealand (CAANZ) and a Chartered Fellow (CFInstD) of the New Zealand Institute of Directors (IoD).

Chiong Yong Tiong

MCom, BCom

Yong Tiong became a Director of New Zealand King Salmon in 2019. He has extensive experience in timber industries and property development companies. He is Managing Director of Timbergrow Limited and Maraetai Land Development Limited. Yong is also a Director of property development company Neil Corporation Limited and is on the board of Saint Kentigern School in Auckland. He holds a Masters in Finance and Economics from Monash University, Melbourne.

Yuen Carol Chen

BBA

Ms Chen became a Director of New Zealand King Salmon in November 2021. She is the Deputy General Manager of Corporate Strategy and Development at China Resources Enterprise (CRE) with responsibility for merger and acquisition initiation and execution. Since joining CRE in 2009 she has participated in various key transactions including the acquisition of Kingway Brewery, joint venture formation for the beverage business and the retail business with Tesco, the privatization of non-beer businesses, the share buyback of China Resources Snow, as well as the minority investments overseas.

Jack Porus

BCom, LLB

Jack became a Director of New Zealand King Salmon in 2008. Jack is a consultant with Glaister Ennor and has practised in all areas of property law, commercial law, trusts and estate planning, in addition to mediation. Jack is currently the Chair of Pinnacle Life Limited and a Director of Neil Corporation Limited, Norfolk Financial Management Limited, Ernslaw One Limited as well as other substantial private businesses. He is a trustee of numerous personal and charitable trusts. Jack is a nominated appointee for major New Zealand King Salmon shareholder Oregon Group.

Paul Steere

Stanford Executive Program

After an extensive career in international trade and processing, including senior leadership with the New Zealand Dairy Board, Paul joined Southern Ocean Seafoods in late 1994 as Chief Executive Officer. Paul was involved in the rationalisation of the two major companies resulting in a merger with Regal Salmon to form The New Zealand King Salmon Company, which Paul led until 2009 when he stepped down as CEO and joined the Board of Directors. Paul has subsequently undertaken a range of additional governance roles including Chair of ASX-listed Cleanseas group (Kingfish aquaculture in South Australia), Allan Scott Wines, Kaynemaile and Nelson Airport. He has also served as a Councillor at NMIT and as Vice President of NZ Red Cross. Paul is a member of Seafood Research NZ, the Aquaculture Advisory Panel South Pacific Community and is also a Chartered Fellow of the NZ Institute of Directors.

Catriona Macleod

GIBio, MSc, PhD, GAICD

Professor Catriona Macleod became a Director of New Zealand King Salmon in 2020. She is a senior scientist with more than 20 years’ experience in marine resource along with water and aquaculture management. Catriona has been a key driver in numerous global research projects and multi-sectoral partnerships investigating the environmental and social interactions of aquaculture. Her expertise is frequently sought on marine and coastal environmental issues, and her recommendations inform regulatory policy and the strategic development of sustainable aquaculture activities in Australia and internationally. She has a keen interest in finding innovative solutions for equitable and sustainable resource management and allocation. She was a finalist in the Australian Rural Woman of the Year Awards 2010 and was nominated for the Tasmanian Scientist of the Year in 2012. In 2019 her salmon interactions research team were awarded the prestigious University of Tasmania Medal for Research Excellence, in recognition of their exceptional science on the effects of salmon farming in the coastal zone.

Mark Dewdney

Mr Dewdney brings extensive governance experience, commercial and operational experience to the role, particularly in the primary sector. He has a strong background in agribusiness, international sales and distribution, manufacturing, and supply chain industries. Having had 25 years in management roles both in New Zealand and Asia, in 2017 he decided to commit to a future path in governance.

Mr Dewdney has held management positions with a range of companies, including Tatua Dairy Co-operative, the NZ Dairy Group and Fonterra, where he progressed to MD for Fonterra Ingredients in Asia. From there he moved into his first CEO position with the Livestock Improvement Corporation, before becoming CEO for PGG Wrightson in 2013.

Mr Dewdney is currently a Director of The Tatua Dairy Co-operative and Chair of Hop Revolution Limited and Maririe General Partner Limited.

Victoria Taylor

Bcom, PG Management & Leadership

Victoria became a Director of New Zealand King Salmon in 2022. Having previously held executive positions at the Coca-Cola Company, Griffin’s Foods and Goodman Fielder, she has a wealth of experience in consumer branded food and beverage manufacturing organisations. Victoria was also a founder, shareholder and COO of a successful food manufacturing business. She is currently Chair of two privately owned entities in primary industry and employment dispute resolution, a Director of AsureQuality, as well as sitting on the Industry Advisory Board of the High Value Nutrition Science Challenge.

Carl Carrington

MBA (Cranfield), B.Chem.Eng., Stanford ExecEd, NZICD

Carl Carrington joined New Zealand King Salmon in August of 2023. As the former Chief Executive of Moana New Zealand from 2012 to 2018, Carl has since then had a broad governance career primarily in the food & beverage and seafood sectors. Prior to this, he held senior leadership roles with DB Breweries, Heineken-Lion Australia, Lion Nathan Australia and Vietnam Breweries.
He is a passionate New Zealander who believes strongly in the value of the Aotearoa New Zealand provenance story underpinned by world-leading product and service quality, resource sustainability and workplace safety.
Carl has an MBA from the Cranfield School of Management, a Bachelor of Chemical & Materials Engineering and he has completed professional development training through Stanford Business School. He is a Chartered Member of the NZ Institute of Directors.

Ben Rodgers

BBS, PGDipAcc

Ben joined New Zealand King Salmon in September 2021. Ben is responsible for all finance related activities, in addition to providing support across the wider corporate office with a focus of increasing collaboration throughout the organisation. Ben has had a career of almost 20 years in finance, most recently with leadership roles at Kiwibank and Z Energy. Ben has also gained valuable overseas experience with Telefonica UK.

Graeme Tregidga

Graeme joined New Zealand King Salmon in 2004 as Sales Manager, then in 2012 he was appointed General Manager Sales with responsibility for developing and implementing NZKS’ domestic and international sales strategy and leading the international sales team. His previous roles include 16 years in the horticulture industry with various leadership positions across processing, international and domestic sales and general management. In November 2022, Graeme was appointed Acting Chief Executive Officer of New Zealand King Salmon, with overall responsibility for ensuring the organisation is managed at the highest strategic level. Following on from this, Graeme was appointed Chief Commercial Officer in October of 2023.

Grant Lovell

BSc

Grant first joined New Zealand King Salmon in 1997 as a Hatchery Technician. After a stint working in Australia, he returned in 2012 as Aquaculture Production Manager and was appointed General Manager Aquaculture in 2020. Grant has overall responsibility for freshwater and seawater operations including management of breeding programmes, fish health and harvest, in addition to feed and production planning. Grant holds a Bachelor of Science in Animal Biology from the University of Canterbury.

Monique Hatfull

MA EnvStud, BA Anthropology

Monique joined New Zealand King Salmon in September 2023. Monique (Ngāti Whātua) has a career background in Māori resource management, environmental studies and aquaculture. Her most recent experience includes four years with the Ministry of Primary Industries Aquaculture Directorate, which involved delivering the Crown’s aquaculture settlement obligations to iwi, inputting into and enhancing the Resource Management system, and staying connected across a range of partners and stakeholders. She will bring this experience to her new role with New Zealand King Salmon, which will focus on building strong and positive relationships, coordinating community sponsorships and events, and managing strategic communications.

Nikki Rackley

Bcom

Nikki first joined New Zealand King Salmon in 2015 as an HR Advisor, leaving in 2018 to join Port Nelson. She returned to NZKS in February 2021 as a Senior Business Partner, People & Culture, before being promoted to Head of People & Culture in May 2021. Nikki is responsible for the Human Resources function and delivery of services to the Company. She leads the management and implementation of HR strategy, policy, practices, and procedures. Prior to NZKS, Nikki worked in Private Equity and HR in London.

Richard Smith

BSc, MBA

Richard joined New Zealand King Salmon in 2018. Beginning in the role of Projects and Engineering Manager, Richard was appointed General Manager Processing in 2020. Richard is responsible for all processing operations. Having gained a BSc in microbiology, Richard has been involved in food manufacturing operations for the entirety of his career. He has specialist expertise in process development and operational change and brings a wealth of experience from previous senior roles at leading New Zealand manufacturers such as Whittaker’s Chocolate and Sealord.

David Wright

David joined New Zealand King Salmon in August 2016 as IT Operations Manager, before being promoted to IT Manager in April 2018. Then in March 2021 he secured the role of General Manager ICT. David is responsible for the security of all corporate data, technology strategy, and business operations, from a technology perspective. Ensuring that the business utilises technology effectively to drive competitive advantage and business efficiency. David’s career has spanned over 30 years in both the private and public sectors, working extensively in the seafood industry and local government. He is passionate about local community and fulfils the role of Chair within the “Digital Technology IT Advisory Committee” at NMIT.

Denver McGregor

Denver joined New Zealand King Salmon in February 2003, fulfilling several roles with the organisation before being appointed General Manager Food Safety and Quality in 2021. Denver has overall responsibility for food safety, quality and market access whilst meeting regulatory, customer and business needs. With a passion for food safety, Denver has been recognised for his commitment and positive contributions at a national level. In 2021, Denver received the New Zealand Food Safety’s ‘Significant Contribution to Food Safety’ award from MPI, in addition to a ‘Long Standing Service Recognition’ award from Seafood New Zealand for his dedication and commitment to food safety, most notably the NZKS Listeria Monocytogenes strategy programme.

Cindy Steele

BTech (Hons)

Cindy joined NZKS in September 2003 as an Export Sales Coordinator. Cindy then moved into a Product Development role and has been involved with numerous product launches in her time with NZKS. In 2021, Cindy transferred to the Omega Innovations division as Product Development Manager. As of September 2022, Cindy was promoted to the Assistant GM of Omega Innovations with responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the division.

Governance

The Board of New Zealand King Salmon Investments Limited (the Company) is committed to ensuring that the Company meets best practice governance principles and maintains the highest ethical standards. The Corporate Governance Statement provides an overview of the Company’s governance framework. It is structured to follow the NZX Corporate Governance Code (NZX Code) and disclose practices relating to the NZX Code’s recommendations.

The Board believes our governance structures and in particular our remuneration approach meets our strategic objectives. In forming our conclusions we have sought external feedback from shareholders and advisors to challenge our thinking and validate our findings, which we have appreciated.

Corporate Governance Code

The Board of New Zealand King Salmon Investments Limited (the Company) has adopted the following Corporate Governance Code (the Code) on 1 July 2019 which comprises the Board Charter, Board Committee charters and other governance policies. The Board aims to achieve the highest standards of governance. The Code has been established to promote a culture that ensures commitment to and compliance with essential governance principles is at the heart of the Company’s business practices.

The Company is listed on NZX’s Main Board and on ASX as a Foreign Exempt Listing. The Foreign Exempt Listing status requires the Company to comply with the NZX Main Board Listing Rules and regulations (the NZX Rules), and only a small number of ASX’s Listing Rules. This Code only includes requirements relating to the NZX Rules. This Board Charter (Charter) sets out the role, responsibilities, composition, structure and approach of the Board. The Board is legally responsible for the affairs and activities of the Company. The Charter provides guidance for the effective oversight of the Company by the Board on behalf of its shareholders, employees and other material stakeholders.
