We have once again teamed up with Marlborough Tour Company and Kaipupu Wildlife Sanctuary to offer the popular Sounds, Salmon & Songbirds Cruise.
Now in its fifth year, the collaboration is a fantastic opportunity for Mulbaurians and visitors alike to experience the beautiful Marlborough Sounds, learn about what makes King salmon so special and appreciate the native birds of Kaipupu Wildlife Sanctuary.

New Zealand King Salmon GM Marketing Jemma McCowan says the Sounds, Salmon and Songbirds Cruise has become a date on the calendar to look forward to for many local families.
“Run throughout the October school holidays the half day cruise offers something for everyone. Passengers will sample delicious local Regal salmon and Mud House wines, learn about native wildlife, see a salmon farm up close and feed the fish, and be in the draw to win a mix of spot prizes.”

Marlborough Tour Company General Manager Scott McKenzie says passengers will spend their time onboard the well appointed MV Odyssea launch where they will cruise out from Picton to New Zealand King Salmon’s Ruakaka salmon farm at the junction of Queen Charlotte Sound and the Tory Channel.

From there passengers will cruise to the Kaipupu Wildlife Sanctuary situated on a beautiful headland of coastal bush just out from Picton.
Kaipupu Wildlife Sanctuary Project Coordinator Rachel Russell says visitors will be taken on a guided walk around the picturesque reserve and also learn about the great work the organisation is doing to protect a whole range of native wildlife and birds.

So make sure you get the whole family onboard and enjoy an affordable day out in the Marlborough Sounds and all the treasures it has to offer.
