New Zealand King Salmon, Kaipupu Point Sounds Wildlife Sanctuary and Marlborough Tour Company have joined forces again, collaborating to offer a fantastic family day out in the Marlborough Sounds with their popular “Sounds, Salmon & Songbirds Cruise.”

The cruise has been run by NZKS, Marlborough Tour Company and Kaipupu Point Sounds Wildlife Sanctuary for the past 3-4 years to enable locals and those from the top of the south to visit the Marlborough Sounds and enjoy what treasures it offers. For these lucky cruise attendees, this includes a guided nature walk around Kaipupu Point Sounds, along with a visit to the Ruakaka salmon farm to feed the fish. Back on board, cruise goers can then enjoy a sample of Marlborough Regal salmon, capped off with a Mud House Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc wine tasting. And if they aren’t lucky enough after that, a mix of spot prizes are up for grabs.

The Sounds, Salmon & Songbirds Cruise is a Saturday afternoon tour running fortnightly from June through until September, with more trips during the July school holidays. The cruise departs Picton onboard Marlborough Tour Company’s well-appointed MV Odyssea launch and runs 1.30-4.30pm.

The cruise runs 1.30-4.30pm every other Saturday, from late June through to mid September, and more regularly during the July school holidays. Three cruises were run – 16 July, 13 August, 24 September.

Enjoy a unique  family day out in the Marlborough Sounds with this cruise that delights those in a day of relaxation, environmental stimulation and truly a day to appreciate, the “sounds, salmon and songbirds” experience in this, our beautiful ‘backyard’.
