Times may be tough on the employment front but one Nelson business is bucking the trend.
NZ King Salmon is looking for 30 processing staff to help the company meet increased orders of packaged salmon from its export markets in Australia, North America and Asia.
Chief executive Grant Rosewarne says several new salmon products have helped grow the company’s order book.
“Sure we are going through challenging times but we have been focusing on adding value to our products here in New Zealand and increasing volume to our operation.
“That has involved developing several new products and the strategy has enabled us to add around 30 jobs which represents about fifteen per cent of our processing line workforce.”
Mr Rosewarne says “we want people who will work with us to improve our lean processes. The New Zealand dollar is at a high value but in any case we need to improve to become world class to ensure we continue our success.”
“Specifically, we are looking for staff to process whole salmon, plus portioning and packing but there are also some opportunities for machine operators, graders, pin-boners and filleters and the like.
“We’re always looking for good quality people who want work – and Nelson is one great place to work,” Mr Rosewarne says.
Anyone interested in applying should apply online at www.kingsalmon.co.nz when roles are advertised or applications forms are available from our Reception, 31 Bullen Street, Tahunanui, Nelson.
